Bentley Wood — A 68-page PSHE & RSE workbook built around a repeating lesson reflection and three assessment reviews

A bespoke 68-page PSHE and RSE workbook for Bentley Wood, structured around the three core themes — Health and Well-being, Living in the Wider World, and Relationships — with a repeating lesson reflection spread for every topic and three assessment report reviews spaced through the year for whole-school reflection.
The brief
Bentley Wood came to us for a PSHE and RSE workbook that would do justice to a subject that doesn't fit a standard exercise book. The team wanted students engaging with each lesson reflectively — capturing what they already knew, what they'd learned, and how the topic connected to the rest of their education — not just copying notes.
They also wanted the workbook to do double duty as the place where students sit with their assessment data three times a year. PSHE is the natural home for that whole-school reflection — looking at attendance, effort, homework, behaviour points and grades across every subject, deciding what was a strength, what fell short of expectations, and what needed to change before the next report.
The book needed to cover all three statutory PSHE core themes — Health and Well-being, Living in the Wider World, and Relationships — and to give each lesson the same structured reflection so students build the habit across the year.
What we designed
Working with the Bentley Wood team, we built a 68-page PSHE and RSE workbook anchored on two repeating templates.
A school-branded cover with ruled lines for name, class, teacher and subject, the three PSHE core themes listed clearly — Health and Well-being, Living in the Wider World, Relationships — so students see the shape of the subject before they open the book.
A repeating lesson reflection spread used for every topic, with consistent fields throughout: Core theme and Lesson title at the top alongside the date, then a structured set of prompts — What I knew about this topic at the start of the lesson, This is what I have learned during the lesson, How does this topic link to other areas of the school curriculum?, and a notes section for anything else. The same template repeated through the book so students aren't redesigning their layout every lesson, and so a teacher flicking through can see the arc of a student's thinking across all three core themes.
Three assessment report review spreads — one for the first report of the year, one for the second, one for the final — each laid out identically so progress is visible from one to the next. Each spread captures attendance and punctuality, grades against target and projection across English, Maths, Science, ICT, PE and Phil/RS, plus effort, homework, coursework, rewards and behaviour points, with reflection prompts — Do you feel your assessment report matches your expectations? and Which subject areas were you particularly pleased with? — and space to set the next steps.
68 pages in total, paced to take a full year of weekly PSHE lessons plus the three reflection points around assessment data drops.
The finished book
Every Bentley Wood student now has the same workbook for PSHE and RSE — every lesson reflected on through the same prompts, and three points across the year where they sit with their whole-school progress data in the same structured way. The arc of a student's thinking across Health and Well-being, Living in the Wider World and Relationships sits in one book, alongside the three assessment reviews that show how their year actually went.
